Grimsby Town must find cutting edge at Nuneaton

GRIMSBY Town must take their chances at Nuneaton today – with or without leading scorer Lenell John-Lewis.

That's according to Mariners boss Paul Hurst, who takes his side to Liberty Way for a meeting with the Conference strugglers.

John-Lewis was taken from the field in midweek, after clashing with Gateshead stopper Adam Bartlett.

But while the 15-goal frontman trained yesterday, he may not be available for the trip south to Warwickshire (3pm).

Either way, Hurst says his men have to be clinical as they continue their quest for a Football League return.

He said: "It's a really good opportunity for us.

"One or two other teams aren't playing, and the table will look better for us if we can go there and get a victory.

"We want to build on the Barnet win and wrack the points up.

"It's like any game, you have to take your chances, and if you don't then you rarely get away with it.

"Against Telford, who are also struggling, we were dominant until they scored, which came out of nothing.

"We dug in and got a point, but we had missed three or four decent chances before that.

"We don't want to be labelled as a team that only does well against the better sides.

"If you want to be successful, you have to pick up points against whatever type of team you play against."

On the condition of John-Lewis, Hurst added: "We had a look at Lenny yesterday and his mouth was still a little sore.

"He joined in training, but we will have to see how he is this morning before we know if he will be available for us."

Should John-Lewis be ruled out of the contest with Liam Daish's men, Town will still have plenty of options in forward areas.

Ollie Palmer, Ross Hannah, Jon-Paul Pittman and Hamish Watson are all available for selection.

Hurst continued: "I've got Ross, Jon-Paul, Ollie and Hamish – so any of them are there if we want to go with a front two."
