LOAN striker Ollie Palmer has been challenged to continue his impressive start to life at Grimsby Town.

With doubts surrounding the fitness of Lenell John-Lewis – ahead of today's clash at Nuneaton – the frontman may shoulder added responsibility.

But Palmer, who netted in last weekend's victory over Barnet, has already proved to be a hit with the Mariners' fans.

And boss Paul Hurst wants him to keep on firing, even though a decision has yet to be made on extending his initial month-long deal.

Hurst said: "Ollie has done well for us, and had a fantastic game against Barnet where the fans took to him.

"And then he had a different role at Gateshead, but in truth I didn't bring him to the club to play as a lone striker.

"He has only played three games, and he will have to play a few more before we get into that conversation.

"Things are so changeable in football, so at this moment in time we will have to assess what happens in the next couple of games.

"It's not something we have looked to deal with yet, but if Ollie carries on like he has been then it's certainly something we will look at."
