Crash victim crawls to safety as ice and snow warnings are issued for tonight

A woman had to free herself from her overturned car by crawling out of the rear window of her hatchback. It crashed on black ice on Tetney Road, Humberston this morning. The car ended up in a ditch on its roof. The woman was treated by paramedics from East Midlands Ambulance Service. The incident happened at shortly after 9am. Humberside Fire and Rescue crew members had to use ladders to get to the bottom of the ditch to secure the vehicle. A Humberside Police spokesman said: "I thought we were going to have loads of incidents, but it has been relatively clear." Motorists were advised to take extra care on their journeys and leave in plenty of time in order not to rush. Roads are due to ice over again during the night as temperatures are due to dip well below freezing with snow and ice forecast. Gritters have been out on primary routes salting the roads. keep checking for updates
