A 'Good Samaritan' who helped a man back to his home after he fell over and suffered a bloodied nose later threatened him and stole his TV and wallet.
A 45-year-old man told police a man came to his aid after falling over in Grimsby town centre at around 10.30pm on Saturday, January 10.
The man was walking on the footpath alongside Victoria Dock behind the Sainsbury's store and fell to the floor, sustaining a bloodied nose – when an unknown man helped him to his feet and accompanied him back to his home address on Hume Mews.
On arriving back at his home, the injured man stated the suspect escorted him into his flat and joined him for a drink.
Sometime after, the victim reported that the visitor became aggressive and threatened him for money and his bank card.
He then went on to search the property and left taking a TV and the victim's wallet.
The victim believes this was around 1am on Sunday, January 11.
Police are now seeking to find witnesses who may have seen the earlier incident in town when the man fell over. Officers would also like to speak to anyone who may have seen the alleged offender leave the property, or may have observed him walking in the area carrying a television set.
Anyone with information is asked to call police on 101, quoting crime reference number AA/2091127 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
