Fire crews called to kitchen fire at flat on Pasture Street

FIRE were in attendance at a kitchen fire on Pasture Street last night. 

The incident which occurred just after 10pm involving a pan of food left on electric cooker hob was put out by the occupier prior to the crews arrival. 

A stage one PPV fan was used to ventilate the flat and oxygen therapy and gel burn administered to the male occupier suffering smoke inhalation and burns to arm until paramedics arrived on the scene. 

The man was taken to hospital by the Ambulance Service. 

Three further residents were given pre-cautionary check ups by paramedics. 

The fire caused light smoke damage to the flat and the smoke detector was activated.
