American music legend Dolly Parton has become an honorary member of the Cleethorpes Rotary Club for its involvement with her worldwide book project.
The Dolly Parton Imagination Library, an international project inspired by the country star, is accessible in Grimsby and Cleethorpes at the Little Stars Day Nursery, at the Grimsby Institute.
It was opened to coincide with World Book Day back in March thanks to the Cleethorpes Rotary Club.
Asked if she could be coming to North East Lincolnshire, club member Steven Brickett said: "It's possible. She could do, I don't know."
He said he hoped the project would be rolled out further across the Grimsby and Cleethorpes area, but added that more funding was needed.
The Imagination Library was originally launched in Dolly's home of Sevier County, Tennessee. It fosters a love of reading among pre-school children by providing them with a free hardcover book every month from birth to the age of five. Currently, the Imagination Library has programmes in over 1,800 communities worldwide, with 730,000 children under the age of five receiving books from the Imagination Library each month.
The books are addressed to the children personally and delivered. Over the five years, they receive over 60 books at £25 per year.
