ANGER at finding dog mess in a flat led a man to damage a window while trying to attract the attention of the person he thought was looking after the animal, a court heard.

Gareth Jackson, 29, of Holydyke, Barton-upon-Humber, admitted damaging a window, belonging to Michael Winters, on May 29.

Rebecca Dolby, prosecuting, told Grimsby Magistrates' Court that Mr Winters organised accomm- odation for Jackson in Immingham. A witness spotted Jackson near a window at the premises, with his arm inside, and shouted: "What are you doing?"

Jackson angrily walked away. Mr Winters later found a window smashed. Nothing had been taken.

Graham Pressler, mitigating, said Jackson left a dog inside the upstairs flat and claimed that Mr Winters agreed to feed it and take it out.

He returned to find "dog mess and urine all over the place" so went to confront Mr Winters to ask why he had not done what he had supposedly promised to do.

He banged on a window, which was previously cracked, and when he heard music, took it that Mr Winters was in.

"He banged excessively hard to attract attention," claimed Mr Pressler.

It was apparently the sister of Mr Winters who was walking nearby and saw him.

Jackson had been jailed for eight months at Grimsby Crown Court in September for dangerous driving.

He was given an absolute discharge for the damage offence.
