A new report has highlighted the potential for growth across North East Lincolnshire.
The council has today published its new Strategic Housing Land Availability Assessment (SHLAA), which shows land is available to deliver around 13,000 homes in the next 18 years.
The report also said that almost 9,000 jobs could be created in the period up to 2032.
The council's portfolio holder for environment and housing, Councillor David Watson said the publication of the SHLAA marked a major milestone in the preparation of the new Local Plan.
"The SHLAA shows us the incredible chance we have to grow the borough and create new opportunities for people to get into work. We need to plan to deliver these houses so that we can provide for those people who want to live and work in the area. We expect many of these jobs will go to local people, but we also expect people to be moving into the area to work.
"These workers and their families won't just need places to live, they'll also need schools, shops, leisure facilities and health services. We also need to make sure our roads are ready to deal with more traffic. The next step for the Local Plan is to understand all these needs, and to show how they will be delivered.
"However, I must emphasise that inclusion of a site in the SHLAA does not guarantee it will be allocated for development in the Local Plan or that planning permission will be granted. It only identifies land which could potentially be used for housing."
