Grimsby70 Roundtable have pulled a masterstroke by securing Eddie 'The Eagle' Edwards as guest speaker at their annual gents dinner that will be held at the Humber Royal Hotel on Friday, November 21.
Eddie will be entertaining an audience of local businesses with an insight into his world famous Olympic exploits.
He leapt to fame and sometimes misfortune in the 1987 World Championships in Oberstdorf where he shook the world of Ski Jumping.
Eddie became the first competitor to represent Great Britain in ski jumping at the Olympics in Calgary in 1988. At the time he was the British ski jumping record holder and the world number nine in amateur speed skiing.
He said: "The fans christened me Eddie the Eagle. It just snowballed from there - it was great fun. I knew I wasn't going to beat anybody - I knew I would come last."
His stories of how he became an unlikely superstar will be revealed in an after dinner speech.
The event is helping to raise funds for local charities that include Roundtables Children's Wish and MNDA Grimsby & Cleethorpes.
Tickets are available to individuals and to corporate groups at £35 per person, this includes a three course meal with entertainment from Eddie and laughter from comedian Lester Crabtree.
