PAUL Hurst has hinted that Grimsby Town's new goalkeeping coach will assist with the club's scouting.
As reported online at grimsbytelegraph.co.uk/sport, Steve Marsella will work with the Mariners' stoppers on a part-time basis.
First-team custodian James McKeown and Youth-team glovemen Callum Bastock and Jack Pearson will all benefit from the Yorkshireman's expertise.
Marsella has more than 20 years coaching experience at clubs including Queens Park Rangers, Notts County, Huddersfield and Barnsley.
But his scouting track record is equally impressive, especially during his time in Scotland with Inverness Caledonian Thistle and, most recently, Hibernian.
That period saw Marsella guide a host of English players into successful careers north of the border.
Now, Mariners boss Hurst will be hoping he can repeat that success with Town – and the manager can perhaps utilise the scout's huge list of contacts.
"We are really pleased to get Steve on board," commented Hurst.
"He has a lot of experience as a goalkeeping coach and as a scout. He has a very good knowledge of a lot of players."
