MATTHEW Grove has held his first press conference as Humberside police and crime commissioner.
Mr Grove said he was "absolutely delighted, honoured and hugely relieved" to have been elected to the role.
Sitting next to Humberside Police Chief Constable Tim Hollis, Mr Grove said the pair were united by a common interest to protect the people of East Yorkshire and northern Lincolnshire.
He said: "I really, really want the challenges that lie ahead. I want to represent the people of this area and do everything I can to keep them safe, reduce crime, and reduce the number of victims."
After addressing the media and police officers at a community centre in Grimsby, Mr Grove walked around an estate with members of the local policing team.
Mr Hollis said: "This is an historic day for British policing. We can now start looking to the future and do the best for our communities with the resources available to us."
