Five people have been arrested as part of a nationwide police crackdown on drugs – four of which were in our area.
Police have today arrested five people in a series of coordinated raids across the country as part of an ongoing operation, which is targeting prolific offenders suspected of drugs offences and organised crime.
Four men and one woman were arrested by Humberside Police, aged between 23 and 39.
Those arrested were a 27-year-old man in South Killingholme, a 31-year-old man in Grimsby, a 27-year-old man in Immingham and a 23-year-old woman in Holton-le-Clay.
A 39-year-old man was also arrested in Ashton-Under-Lyme, Lancashire, by Greater Manchester Police, on behalf of Humberside Police.
All five people are now in custody in police stations in the Humberside force area and are being interviewed by detectives.
Humberside Police Detective Chief Inspector Mike Reed said: "The arrests today are the culmination of a year-long operation aimed at bringing people who deal and traffic drugs to justice.
"The people in custody will be interviewed about their involvement and a decision will be taken about any charges in relation to the criminal offences they have committed.
"People who deal and traffic drugs damage our communities and we take investigations of this kind extremely seriously.
"Hopefully we will be able to give more information about the investigation tomorrow and Saturday."
