WORK to dual the A160 access road from the A180 to Immingham Dock could be brought forward by 18 months, the secretary of state for transport has revealed.
In a letter to Cleethorpes and Immingham MP Martin Vickers, which you can read for yourself by clicking here, Patrick McLoughlin revealed the Government had identified the improvements as being "vital" and aimed to start work on the project in the summer of 2015.
It is hoped that the works will be complete by autumn the following year.
Mr Vickers described the announcement as "excellent", adding: "This scheme has been a long-time coming and over the last ten years has been put on hold on more than one occasion.
"Over the last couple of years I, and my colleagues, have pressed hard for this scheme to be given the go-ahead and I'm delighted that we've now succeeded. Earlier today the Prime Minister, in a speech to the CBI, outlined the importance of speeding up the planning process and ensuring schemes that will aid economic development are not held back. It seems to be a case of no sooner said than done!"
