TESCO in Grimsby has opened a new facility to enhance the shopping experience.
The store, off Victoria Street, unveiled a Scan as you Shop service following the example of the supermarket chain in neighbouring Cleethorpes.
Customers must have a Tesco Clubcard but the idea is that it will save shoppers time by scanning each product barcode as they go along with their trolley or basket.
Store manager Jon Carberry said: "It's convenient, it's quicker and you don't have to worry about any queues. It tracks your spending so you can stay within budget and it takes into account any offers as you shop.
"There's been interest already from customers and it hasn't been detrimental to the staff workforce here at all, we haven't gained any new members but we haven't lost any either."
Miss Grimsby, Millie Mae Margetts, officially opened the cutting edge store facility while dressed in an impressive dress - made from 13 Tesco bags.
The 17-year-old said: "The dress was made up for the Miss England final, they had an eco round and it had to be recyclable.
"I enjoy helping the store out because I was spotted in Tesco (for Miss Grimsby) and the new Scan as you Shop looks really good."
