A 46-YEAR-OLD man has died following an assault in Grimsby's Rutland Street.
Darren Barton, who was fighting for his life following the incident on Saturday, passed away at Grimsby's Diana, Princess Of Wales Hospital yesterday evening.
A spokeswoman for Humberside Police said: "A Home Office Post Mortem examination is due to take place later today to establish the cause of death.
"Family Liaison Officers are supporting the family of the victim."
Nathan Newland, 27, of no fixed address, appeared in court yesterday to face charges of grievous bodily harm on Darren Barton, as well as charges of production of cannabis and cultivation of cannabis.
The Crown Prosecution Service will now consider whether to alter the charge in relation to the assault.
