NHS ENGLAND said it is "committed" to ensuring access to timely patient care after it was revealed more than 18,000 people in North East Lincolnshire waited seven days or longer to see a GP the last time they tried to make an appointment.
As reported, across the area covered by North East Lincolnshire Clinical Commissioning Group, 18,049 people said they had faced a wait of a week or more when they phoned for an appointment in the last year.
The annual NHS England survey also reveals that patients struggle to see the family doctor of their choosing.
A spokesperson from NHS England said in response: "NHS England in North Yorkshire and the Humber is committed to ensuring patients have access to high quality, timely patient care and GP practices in the region continue to work hard to ensure their patients are seen in appropriate timescales.
"In the latest GP Patient Survey results 88 percent of patients in North East Lincolnshire said their overall experience of GP services was good."
