BOSS Daryl Clare declared the best is still to come from his Louth Town team as they battle for success in league and cup.

The White Wolves are sixth in the Northern Counties East League Division One but only two points off second spot.

And on Tuesday night, they cruised into the third round of the NCEL League Cup with a 3-0 triumph at Worsbrough Bridge Athletic.

Tomorrow, Louth travel to Teversal, who are ninth in the league.

Clare said: "We are looking forward to the match.

"Teversal are still in there with the mix of clubs going for promotion.

"We will have to be at our best and, hopefully, we will be."

The Louth boss, who started the cup clash at Worsbrough, added: "It was another impressive performance at Worsbrough to get back-to-back wins.

"We are just beginning to warm up now, but I still believe our best is yet to come.

"The football was tidy going forward and it was good to see some different names on the score-sheet, as well as the well-earned clean-sheet."

After Worsbrough went close with two powerful shots on target, Danny Stevens curled a 25-free-kick for Louth just wide.

Dan Pawson then hit the bar as Louth began to take control.

And on 15 minutes the White Wolves took the lead when Jack Wightwick broke through the defence and lobbed the goalkeeper.

Stevens then made an excellent clearance off the line to deny the hosts an equaliser.

The visitors doubled their lead in the 78th minute when, after a clear handball in the area, Paul Goodhand converted from the penalty spot.

Substitute Chris Ella wrapped things up when, just two minutes after coming on, he struck the ball home from 18 yards.
