North East Lincolnshire Council is asking residents whose homes or business premises were flooded last weekend to get in touch.
Heavy downpours overnight between Saturday and Sunday led to flood waters damaging a number of properties in the area.
The severity of the storms varied greatly across the borough. In Beelsby, 44mm of rain fell within 24 hours – 6mm short of the average rainfall total for the month of July – with 33mm of it falling in an hour. In Laceby, it was around half of that with 24mm falling in 24 hours.
An amber weather warning for heavy rain was issued by the Met Office prior to the downpours.
A council investigation is now underway into the causes of the flooding which will establish which flood risk management authorities has a role resolving the problems.
Councillor David Watson portfolio holder for Environment and Housing, said: "It's essential that anyone whose home or business was flooded at the weekend reports it to the council if they haven't already done so.
"We need this information to build up an accurate picture of the flooding that happened so we can see if anything can be done to prevent it from occurring again."
Anyone who wants to report an instance of flooding in their home or business is asked to call the council on 01472 326290 and select option 4 or email ENV-Drainage@nelincs.gov.uk
