Councillors have voted to approve the sale of the Louth Cattle Market, making way for the development of a supermarket.
East Lindsey District Council met this afternoon to decide on its fate.
The council voted 24-13 in favour, with five abstentions.
Councillors did however guarantee that a new market would be built before the current one closes.
Fears were also raised by councillors that if this sale wasn't agreed, the developers would have built a supermarket on the edge of town instead.
