Signs displayed in Cleethorpes stating the central promenade "will be closed to public" during this weekend's air show have been removed.
One of the organisers of the event Bob Callison was inundated by phone calls from alarmed traders worried that pedestrians would not be able to access the area between 6pm on Friday and 6pm on Sunday.
Mr Callison said he was mystified to hear that signs had been put up, and removed them after returning from Kings Lynn where he was working.
He thought they must have been put up by North East Lincolnshire Council, but a spokesman said they were not responsible.
Mr Callison said: "We were planning to put signs up and I can assure you they would have been accurate! I would really like to know who has put them up. It certainly wasn't us."
