Grimsby's ice rink is set to reopen after members of North East Lincolnshire Council's cabinet voted in favour of installing a temporary ice rink at the Cromwell Road site.
The rink at Grimsby Leisure Centre has been closed since early June after its cooling system failed.
Cabinet members this morning voted for the purchase and installation of a temporary ice rink using the current ice pad as a base, with a net cost of £236,000 to the council. It is not yet known how long this could take.
Around 20 ice rink users went along for the meeting, and afterwards many spoke of their delight at the news.
During the meeting members also voted to facilitate the development of a commercial ice facility on the Cromwell Road site.
