A 23-year-old man is in a critical condition after suffering multiple injuries in Cleethorpes.
Scene of Crime officers examined evidence at a block of flats following the incident this morning.
It is currently unclear exactly what has happened but the focus of the investigation appears to be a third floor flat at St Joseph's Court, opposite the police station on Princes Road.
It is understood a man has been taken to hospital - possibly after falling out of the third floor window onto the ground below, where there is evidence that somebody has suffered injuries and has been attended to by paramedics.
Staff at the nearby Royal Court residential home said they heard a loud bang and raised voices coming from the area of the flats at about 7.40am.
Humberside Police Detective Inspector Craig Scott said: "At 7.42am we came across a male laid on the footpath on Princes Road with an injury, for which he is now undergoing treatment for in hospital. At this point it is not yet known how serious his injuries are.
"We are now continuing to investigate the circumstances in which he has come by his injury. We have officers at the scene and are making door-to-door enquiries.
"The male is 23 years old and is from the area, and his family have been made aware."
If you witnessed the incident or have any information, call police on 101.
