PAUL Hurst is delighted to have 'an inside man' at Portsmouth following the appointment of Mikey Harris.

Hurst is good friends with the former Salisbury boss and was pleased to see him named as the south coast club's new Youth team manager last week.

And Hurst revealed that he has already been on the phone to try and get some information on Pompey's young stars.

He said: "I know Mikey had enjoyed his time as manager but with all the drama and goings-on at Salisbury, he obviously thought he needed to move on.

"It's a good job that he's got at a very big football club, albeit one that finds itself in League Two currently.

"In terms of fanbase, it's a huge club and I think they'll have a real chance this season.

"For Mikey to be part of that will be great for him and who knows what could happen for him in the future.

"I'm pleased that he's been able to find a job pretty quickly and still being a young man, it's great that he's been given that opportunity."

"I've already told him to let me know of any players there – that's a conversation we've had!" he added.

"Once he's in there, I'm sure he'll keep tabs on the first team and the reserves as well.

"So if someone becomes available, I've certainly got someone there who I trust and who can give me a little bit of handy inside knowledge!"
