ENGLAND'S disappointing World Cup 2014 campaign came to an end with a 0-0 draw against Costa Rica in Belo Horizonte this evening. Having lost their first two Group D matches against Italy and Uruguay, the Three Lions' exit was already confirmed. Striker Daniel Sturridge went closest for England at the Estadio Mineirao, with a shot that flew inches past the post in the second half. But chances were few and fair between as Roy Hodgson's men finished bottom of their group. Hodgson turned to youth as he looked to end his side's dismal campaign with at least a tiny bit of hope. The manager decided to make nine changes to his starting XI for the dead rubber. Hodgson stuck with the line-up he named on the eve of that match, which meant Ross Barkley and Luke Shaw were handed their first competitive starts for England. Shaw, who came in for Leighton Baines, became the youngest player to appear for England at a World Cup since Michael Owen in France 1998.
