Hodgson stuck with the line-up he named on the eve of that match, which meant Ross Barkley and Luke Shaw were handed their first competitive starts for England.
Shaw, who came in for Leighton Baines, became the youngest player to appear for England at a World Cup since Michael Owen in France 1998.
