"THERE is no chance of me going to another Conference side because in my eyes Grimsby Town is the best club in the division."
Those are the words of Alex Rodman after the winger decided against another season at Blundell Park.
As reported, the 27-year-old has opted to move on after an impressive campaign with the Mariners – particularly after Christmas.
However, the wideman was quick to reassure Town fans that he won't be lining up against them next season.
"I triggered an option on my Town contract by playing a certain number of games, and then it was up to me if I wanted to extend that for another season," Rodman told the Telegraph.
"I had to let the club know by Sunday whether I wanted to take that up or not, but I opted not to.
"That's because I've got a couple of other options which are just too good to turn down.
"There is no chance of me going to another Conference side because in my eyes Grimsby Town is the best club in the division – that's why I signed for them in the first place."
He continued: "I can't say who the other clubs are because I'm still deciding which offer to take. It's a big decision for me and I don't want to rush into it – I need to make the right decision for the right reasons.
"I'm very excited about it, though. There are a couple of different types of offers as well, which makes it doubly interesting.
"I obviously want to play at the highest level I possibly I can, and some of these will give me the chance to do that."
The former Aldershot Town and Tamworth man – who has been linked with Hibernian among other clubs – was also keen to pay tribute to the Mariners fans.
"Playing for a club like Town with that support was just amazing," he added.
"A couple of times this season I've been surprised by the huge level of support those fans have given us.
"It's not often, as a footballer, you are shocked by how much it means to people – but the away support, in particular, has been phenomenal.
"It's been an absolute pleasure to play for their football club."
