Ahead of Thursday's first 'Mariners Memory Game' – aimed at raising awareness of dementia – Grimsby Town manager Paul Hurst recalls his top moments...
BECOMING Town boss, leading the team out at Wembley and turning over Scunny – Paul Hurst has his fair share of magical Mariners memories already.
However, he is hoping that the best moment of his managerial career is yet to come, in April.
The Mariners' final game of the regular season is at Braintree on April 26, and Hurst is praying that will be his proudest moment.
Listing his highlights since taking over as boss, in tandem with Rob Scott in March 2011, he said: "Wembley was very special – even though the result didn't go our way.
"To be able to lead the team out at the national stadium and line up for the anthem prior to the game was a great moment.
"That's the obvious one, but I also look back to when we first took over – that was a proud moment, to be unveiled at the club and be in full-time management. That was another special day and I certainly hope there are a lot more to come."
More recently, the FA Cup victory over the local rivals also gave the Town manager great pleasure – especially the atmosphere at Blundell Park in the home draw.
"The Scunthorpe tie was another one that sticks in the memory," he added. "As much as I enjoyed getting through the second game, I have to say that the home game stood out – just because of the atmosphere.
"When we went to Glanford Park, we took lots of our fans but it didn't seem that hostile.
"We obviously don't condone anything that went off after the home game, but within the stadium from the warm-up onwards, the atmosphere was just electric.
"I'd love to get that back and hopefully we see that again in some of these games coming up.
"We've had some good times and there has definitely been some progression.
"We all know what the ultimate goal is and, if we can achieve that, that will surpass all the other memories."
