A HOME in Charles Street, Cleethorpes, was on fire this morning at around 10.30am.
Three fire appliances attended the scene and quickly extinguished the fire in the kitchen.
The only occupant of the house was able to escape the property and alert the fire service.
They were later taken to hospital for a check up as a precaution.
Station manager for Peaks Lane Fire Station, Andy Peart, said: "We want to give a reminder to residents to ensure they have working smoke detectors fitted in their homes and that they are checked on a regular basis.
"We want everybody to stay safe this Christmas and throughout the year as well."
