GRIMSBY Town's players can take the credit for Paul Hurst's Conference Manager of the Month Award – apart from at Coalville.
That's according to the Mariners boss, who scooped the award for November after masterminding three league victories and Scunthorpe United's exit from the FA Cup.
The month did end on a slightly disappointing note, with Saturday's dire FA Trophy display at Coalville Town.
But that 1-1 draw with the part-timers can be put right this evening in the replay at Blundell Park (7.45pm).
And Hurst doesn't want that blip to overshadow his squad's efforts across three competitions.
"It's not really me that deserves the award," he told the Telegraph.
"It's the players that have been putting in some excellent performances and making my job a lot easier – up until Saturday, which wasn't my most enjoyable afternoon.
"It's always nice to be recognised like this and proves you're doing something right.
"I've even noticed a couple of managers recently who have won it and gone on to win their next game, so hopefully that will be the case again!
"There must have been a few other contenders, because quite a few of the teams in the Conference are going well – perhaps the cup game tipped it in my favour."
Reflecting on his three months as sole Town boss, Hurst said it hasn't always been a walk in the park.
"Initially, it was hard, there's no getting away from that," he added.
"It was different, but ultimately you get on with your job, and I enjoy working with the players on the training pitch and seeing that work bear fruit.
"There have been one or two moments recently where little bits of information and planning have worked and that gives you that extra bit of pleasure.
"It's the players that carry it out, though. You can put the best training sessions on or the best game plan but if they go out on a Saturday and freeze or don't perform, that goes out of the window.
"Something we spoke about three or four games into this unbeaten run was not giving it up easily, and seeing how long we can extend it for.
"I'm aiming for it to carry on, starting with the game against Coalville tonight."
