TWO houses in Immingham have been flooded after a water main burst this afternoon.
The properties in Oban Court suffered the flooding after the nine-inch main burst shortly after 12pm today.
Six further houses have had their gardens flooded.
Humberside Fire and Rescue attended and used three featherweight pumps to disperse the water after the mains supply had been shut off by Anglian Water.
An Anglian Water statement on its website has apologised to customers who are without water or suffering with low pressure.
Antony Innes, from Anglian Water, said: "We are very sorry to customers in Oban Court, Immingham, who have been affected by a burst water main.
"Regrettably, two homes and a handful of gardens were flooded.
"We realise this is an extremely upsetting situation for these customers and are doing what we can to help them with drying equipment and arranging for loss adjusters to assess the damage.
"Engineers have been on-site working to fix the problem and stop water leaking.
"Unfortunately, when we stopped the water - to halt the flood in Oban Court - the wider Immingham area would have seen a reduction in water pressure or loss of supply until about 3pm when we were able to redirect water from other local pipes."
The firm said it hoped water for remaining properties would be restored by 8pm tonight.
