PAUL Hurst has heralded Andy Cook's performance – at the 'Mariners Trust FIFA 14 Tournament'.
The big striker was the victor as Grimsby Town's players went head-to-head with fans on the popular PlayStation 3 game.
Craig Disley, Shaun Pearson, Andi Thanoj and Dayle Southwell were among the other Mariners players involved in the competition at Blundell Park this week.
"The lads all had a great night at the tournament and obviously Cooky won it, which he was chuffed with," said their manager Hurst.
"At least we all know how he spends his afternoons and evenings now!
"I'm more of a Pro-Evo man myself otherwise I might have got involved as well and challenged them all to a game.
"I only get a bit of pleasure from beating my son on FIFA every now and again but it's not much of a challenge when he's only six!
"So in saying that, I don't think I'd have been any good at the tournament against any of the real players!"
Hurst continued: "It's a tight-knit club and we do some good work in the community.
"There's no doubt that the closeness to the community and that connection is often better the further down the leagues you go.
"We've never stopped the players attending events and we're always happy for them to go out into the community and meet the fans.
"We've got some terrific ambassadors for the club, who do a hell of a lot of good work in the community."
