PAUL Hurst is still keen for Jonathan Hedge to go out on loan and says whichever club takes him will be getting an 'excellent goalkeeper'.
The summer signing, pictured, has so far been unable to dislodge James McKeown as the Mariners' first-choice stopper.
And the 25-year-old has made clear his desire to go out on loan in search of regular action.
After his name was initially circulated to clubs, it did looks as though a move to an unnamed lower league club was on the cards.
Disappointingly for both player and manager, that deal ultimately fell through, but Hurst confirmed that both parties are still open to the stopper leaving on loan.
However, ahead of the loan window closing on Thursday, the Town boss wants to further clarify the regulations before sanctioning any move for the former Cambridge United man.
"I'm still happy for him to go out and get games, providing I can call him back if I need him," he said.
"So in that respect, I've just got to clarify the situation a bit.
"I need to check that he can go out and be recalled if needs be and that the window closing doesn't change any of that."
He added: "We've circulated his name and whoever takes him will be getting an excellent keeper who is eager to play games.
"At the minute, we haven't got any takers, but we'll see.
"Keepers are a special case and things can change very quickly."
