PAUL Hurst's final words to his Grimsby Town players as leave the dressing room tonight will leave them in no doubt as to what is expected against Scunthorpe.
The Mariners squad have another shot at overcoming their fierce rivals in the FA Cup after outplaying the Iron for large parts of the first, goalless meeting at Blundell Park earlier this month.
With the tie set to be settled once and for all this evening, the Town boss wants to see his side reclaim that initiative and finally knock the Iron out of the world-famous competition.
When asked what will be his last message to his players before kick-off, Hurst replied: "Play with a clear mind, don't try to do anything you wouldn't normally do. Just treat it as a normal game.
"Look around your team-mates in the dressing room and don't let any one of them down.
"If they go out tonight and give me everything – which they have been doing, then, whatever the result, I'll still be proud of them.
"But for everyone connected with the club – not least the large travelling support that we'll be taking tonight – we want to do well and get the result."
The Lincolnshire rivals go into tonight's game having enjoyed contrasting fortunes in their respective league campaigns over the weekend.
While Town recorded their third consecutive Conference victory at Tamworth, the Iron extended their winless run to four games with a 2-0 home defeat to Accrington Stanley.
And Hurst believes his opposite number will be looking to harness that pent-up frustration this evening.
He said: "I think Brian (Laws) will certainly be looking to use that frustration as motivation for tonight – not that either group of players will need that much more motivation for this one.
"Scunthorpe will be right up for the game and try to use the home advantage.
"They're the league club, they're at home and they're the favourites – in my opinion.
"In saying that, we know we can compete with them and we'll need to pull another performance out of the bag to progress and set up that tie against Northampton in the next round.
"That's what we all want and we'll be doing everything we can tonight to achieve that."
