Girl, 11, suffers sprained wrist after "assault" in Grimsby

A girl aged 11 suffered a sprained wrist after being lifted from the ground and thrown to the floor by an unknown man in Grimsby.

Police are appealing for information in connection with the reported assault on Harold Street on Saturday, September 21.

The incident is believed to have occurred between 6.30pm and 7.30pm as the girl was walking home.

The girl reported being aware of being followed by another person and when between the junctions of Stanley Street and Rutland Street, she said she was lifted from the ground by the man who approached her from behind.

The girl alleges she was thrown to the floor and the man ran off towards Rutland Street.

She sustained a sprained wrist and attended Diana, Prncess Of Wales Hospital for treatment.

 Her attacker is described as being aged between 16 and 18 years, of slim build and around 5ft 6ins in height.

The victim noted he was of Asian appearance with short black hair, wearing blue jeans and a distinctive blue jacket with grey sleeves.

Any witnesses are asked to call police on 101 quoting crime reference 1999446.
