ALAN Goodall has hinted that he would be open to sticking around at Grimsby Town for longer.
The 31-year-old has played every game since arriving at Blundell Park on an initial one-month loan deal earlier this month.
He was initially drafted in to cover for the then suspended Aswad Thomas. But, after some impressive performances, the Scouser held on to his place for Saturday's draw at Chester, with his fellow full-back only on the bench.
Goodall's deal will come to an end after the trip to Aldershot on Saturday, October 5, but the defender has hinted that he would be open to extending his stay in Cleethorpes.
He said: "I'm really enjoying my time here. I'm getting to know the lads and how we play a lot better.
"As a professional footballer, you go through pre-season working hard, doing the right things day-in day-out and to not start the season and not play was a body blow. So it's been nice to come here and get games.
"I've not spoken to anyone about an extension yet, but my focus is on just working hard and doing the best I can do until my loan is up – then we'll see what we can do.
"If the gaffer pulls me in towards the end of my deal, hopefully we can sit down and sort something out because I'm enjoying it."
Goodall looks set to retain his place for tonight's visit of Dartford (7.45pm) after starring on Saturday.
And he insists Town will be looking to take all three points.
He added: "It's important that we go in to the game prepared right.
"Obviously it's at home and we're going out there to win.
"We've spoken about taking six points from the next two home games – anything else is failure really."
On the potential extending of Goodall's deal, boss Paul Hurst added: "Alan has done well since coming here and he was probably our best player on Saturday.
"There's a few more games yet before his loan runs out but Alan is certainly someone who's added to us. But I don't want to write Aswad off either because he was excellent for us last season.
"It's something I'll have to weigh up as it's coming to a close."
"I know from Alan's point of view, he's enjoying playing again and he's a good pro.
"We'll see how it goes."
