CLEETHORPES golfer Holly Clyburn is in pole position to be crowned Ladies European Tour Rookie of the Year – and aims to stay there.
As reported, the 22-year-old has already topped 100,000 euros in prize money in her first season on the Tour.
Her equal-27th place finish at last weekend's Evian Championship netted her more than 21,000 euros and moved her up to sixth on the Order of Merit.
In the process, Clyburn, pictured, moved 14,276 euros clear of Charley Hull – her main challenger in the quest to be named 2013's top Tour newcomer.
"Since I won in Holland earlier this season and being a rookie it's been an aim to catch Charley and I think I've done that this week.
"My aim is to get that rookie of the year and if I keep playing like I am doing then I might get there."
On her performance at the Evian Championship, she added: "I'd have taken it, but the final round was a bit disappointing with a rough start and then I came back with three birdies in a row.
"I had it going until the 16th and then got up and down from the water on 16, then got unlucky on 17 and hit it into the crowd on 18.
"If somebody had said that I'd be top 30 I'd have taken it. It's good golf out there and it's getting better every week."
There are five tournaments remaining on the 2013 LET international schedule, with the next one being the Lacoste Ladies Open de France, from September 26-29.
Holly Clyburn's younger sister, India, is in action for Lincolnshire at the Women's County Finals this week. Keep track of her progress in your Telegraph and online at grimsbytelegraph.co.uk/sport
