HERE is your chance to give your community's unsung heroes the recognition they deserve.
Whether it's a friend or neighbour, a volunteer, a teacher or an inspirational youngster, everyone knows someone who makes a difference where they live.
And now you can put the spotlight on them by nominating them in the Grimsby Telegraph Community Awards 2013.
Grimsby Telegraph editor Michelle Lalor said: "Our Grimsby Community Awards 2013 celebrates the amazing achievements of local people, who have in some way made a difference to their local community, shown courage and bravery, and helped make our area a better place."
Over the next few weeks, nomination forms will appear in the paper so you can put forward your local champions.
The nominees will then be invited to a glitzy awards night at the Humber Royal Hotel in Grimsby on Thursday, November 28.
National events like Pride Of Britain recognise the achievements of the nation, but our awards brings it much closer to the community in which we live and also provides local businesses with an opportunity to be part of a community led event.
The Mayor of North East Lincolnshire, Councillor Peggy Elliott, pictured, gave her full support to our 2013 awards, having herself worked as a volunteer.
She told the Telegraph: "It's very important that these people are recognised by the wider community.
"Unless you live within a small radius of them then you don't always know what wonderful things they are doing.
"They don't do it for recognition, they are always the people who stand at the back in photographs but you only have to ask them for help and they are there.
"I know myself how hard people work after I volunteered in the crown courts for the witness service.
"If you go to crown court you will see how hard the volunteers work and without them many court cases would just take so long to go through.
"And it is not just about volunteers, many young people are taking part in things like Lifestyle and people in paid jobs are going that extra mile.
"These people are doing wonderful things and it is only right that they should be recognised for that."
