GRIMSBY TOWN director John Fenty has insisted that the apparent departure of joint boss Rob Scott is not performance-related.
This morning the club issued a statement to confirm that Paul Hurst had been placed in sole charge.
And while the club were remaining tight-lipped on whether Scott had indeed left Blundell Park permanently, Mr Fenty told the Telegraph that the announcement had nothing to do with Town's inconsistent results of late.
Mr Fenty declined to comment on whether today's changes are the result of any disciplinary issues.
He said: "Whilst performances haven't been great, we've got to accept that we're four points from the top and we've got a really good squad.
"The managers have been working on the formula and we're pretty confident that, in due course, we'll get back to better performances and winning ways.
"There are discussions going on in-house as to how we progress going forward. However we're unable to make any further comment at this time."
