GRIMSBY Town slumped to a disappointing 2-1 defeat to Nuneaton Town this afternoon. First half goals from Gavin Cowan and Andrew Brown were enough for Boro to beat Town, who were reduced to ten men just before the break when Aswad Thomas was sent off. Despite Andy Cook's late headed goal - Town's first effort on target - the damage had already been done in a dire first half as Town limped to a disappointing defeat. See below for a timeline of events at Blundell Park. 2 mins – Town win their first corner after good work from Joe Colbeck. It's cleared but Rodman earns a free-kick which Patrick McLaughlin lifts over from 20 yards out. 4 mins – At the other end, Boro win their first corner of the match which Craig Disley clears well. 10 mins – Patient play earns Town another corner, but when it breaks to the edge of the area Disley limply side-foots a decent opening over the bar. 13 mins – A clever touch from Moult sees him break past Shaun Pearson but strike-partner Andrew Brown can't get on the end of his drilled cross. 15 mins – Brown heads wide when well-placed in the area. 21 mins – Theo Streete is booked for a foul on Rodman, who picks himself up to deliver a cross. Dimitar Evtimov drops a simple catch, almost allowing Town to pounce, but the keeper collects at the second time of asking. 26 mins – Nuneaton win a corner and GAVIN COWAN makes a late run into the box before climbing easily above the Town markers to nod home and open the scoring. 33 mins – Daniel Sleath turns and lifts a cross to the back post. The Town defenders look to the linesman, thinking that the oncoming BROWN was offside, but the striker heads back across McKeown to put the visitors two up. 35 mins – Nuneaton win another free-kick after some poor defending from Aswad Thomas. 36 mins – Rob Scott and Paul Hurst react to their side's lacklustre performance and make an early change with Liam Hearn coming on for McLaughlin as Town switch to a 4-4-2. 42 mins – Aswad Thomas sees a straight red for an apparent kick-out at Wes York as Town things go from bad to worse for the hosts. 44 mins – James McKeown is forced into a decent save to keep out York's close-range effort as Town looked desperate to get in for the break. HALF TIME – Second-year YT Paul Walker replaces Joe Colbeck at the break following Thomas' sending off. 46 mins – Town win an early corner after Rodman's ball-juggling antics which James Armson narrowly heads over his own bar. At the other end, Town survive a penalty appeal for hand-ball. 47 mins – The excellent Moult is hauled down by Doig on the edge of the box and the striker curls over. 55 mins – Nuneaton go close to grabbing a third but Andi Thanoj does well to clear a goal-bound header over the bar. 60 mins – Chris Doig looks to get away with a penalty after scything down Brown in the box but referee Holmes waves play on. 61 mins – McKeown makes a fine, one handed save down to his right to keep out Danny Sleath's powerful near post drive. 67 mins – Thanoj prevents another certain goal when, after Gareth Dean knocked down a free header, the young Albanian blocked superbly on the line. 81 mins – A cross hits the unwitting Brown when well-placed in the six yard box. 85 mins – Dean side-foots wide after some sharp, patient build-up. 86 mins – Andy Cook scores with Town's first shot on target of the game when he rises highest to re-direct Rodman's corner into the top right-hand corner. 87 mins – The goal lifts Town and Hearn slices wide after good work from Cook. 90+3 mins – Despite the goal, time runs out on Town as they slide to a bitterly disappointing defeat.
