JUDGES for The Big Grimsby Telegraph £250,000 Giveaway have the tough task of choosing worthy causes who deserve part of the funds.
Entries have been painstakingly whittled down to 18 organisations in our area which range from helping the young, elderly and the disabled.
We have teamed up with the Big Lottery Fund to be able to give out grants between £10,000 to £30,000.
Having the task of choosing the right applications is Paul Jones, head of funding at The Big Lottery, who took part in the decision making panel.
He said: "It was a difficult task picking only 18 applicants, but we believe they are all worthy causes.
"The applicants range from Mablethorpe all the way to Immingham, Cleethorpes and Grimsby.
"We have purposely chosen a mix of organisations who are very local and it has been great to see so many applications from groups who are applying for funding for the first time.
"I think it's great that we may be able to give to groups who aren't usually successful with receiving funding. It is all about helping at grass routes level."
The most exciting part of the giveaway is that you will be able to vote which organisations you believe deserve the money. Details of how to vote and who is shortlisted will be revealed on Monday, September 9 in the Grimsby Telegraph.
Panel member Paul added: "We want to make sure the groups are good value for money. And it is important that the public get their vote because they know best who deserves it the most.
"It's important the public get behind it and get voting!"
A shortlist of the best ideas will be published in the Telegraph and readers will have the chance to vote for the projects they would like to see get a grant.
The projects with the highest number of votes will be awarded the funding until all £250,000 of the Big Lottery Fund money has been spent.
