Grimsby Town bosses have 'big decisions' ahead

ROB Scott has urged his Grimsby Town players to give him a selection headache ahead of the visit of Nuneaton on Saturday. After picking up six points from the busy Bank Holiday weekend, Scott says he and Paul Hurst are beginning to have some difficult decisions to make when selecting their match-day squads. The joint manager admits that has not always been the case for the first five games, with some performances towards the end of pre-season meaning that it was relatively straightforward to leave certain members out of the side. But after morale-boosting wins over Alfreton and Hyde, Scott says the squad are starting to give the duo the sort of problems that all managers welcome. "We want the headache of having 20 players who are all 'at it'," he told the Telegraph. "It wasn't quite that way towards the end of pre-season, but it's getting that way now and we've got some big decisions to make, which is good. "What we want is for all the players who haven't been regularly involved to be knocking on our door saying 'why aren't I playing? – because they are at the peak of their powers. "For us, it's then about making the right decisions, hopefully we made them over the Bank Holiday weekend but it's now about repeating the trick against Nuneaton." Scott cited the match-winning performance of Alex Rodman in the victory over Hyde as a shining example to those players who currently find themselves on the fringes of the Town squad. Last season's top-scorer Andy Cook and tricky winger Scott Neilson have all been in and out of Town final 16 so far this season. But Scott insists those players will get their chance if they continue to give the bosses a nudge. He continued: "We've got a squad of 20 players and we've got to pick 16 from that. "The players who find themselves out of the team at the minute need to keep working hard and they'll get their chance. Alex (Rodman) proved that on Monday, he's worked hard and was patient and got his chance. "It's the same with Andy, Scott, Dayle Southwell and all of the other lads. "Stick together, be a good group and you'll get your opportunity over the course of the season. If they're all 'at it', we've got some tough decisions."
