DO you know anyone who is down in the mouth without their dentures?
Their identity could be the missing link in the solution to a mystery which has baffled Cleethorpes resident Keith Littlewood and his family.
The smiles on their faces when they returned from a two-week holiday back to their Cleethorpes home were wiped away by the shock of discovering a set of dentures on their back lawn.
Was it a hard-up granny turning to crime to make ends meet but inadvertently leaving the clue behind?
Were the top and bottom sets of dentures among a haul of stolen items in a burglary nearby?
Or has someone taken revenge on a lover by tossing their dentures over into the Littlewood's garden fence?
Keith, 47, of Waldorf Road, said: "We hope the Grimsby Telegraph can help solve the mystery.
We have no idea who they belong to but would like to see them reunited.
"It is bizarre that they ended up in our back garden. Maybe there is a toothless prowler going around checking people's homes?"
He told how the two plates of dentures were found in a plastic bag as his wife Jenny, 47, was hanging out the family washing following their return from the two-week break in Corfu.
Keith said: "They are an expensive item. I just want to know why they ended up in my back garden."
The Cleethorpes resident said he had heard there had been a break-in at a home in Westbury Avenue sometime during the fortnight he was away.
His initial investigations have resulted in no leads.
He is considering alerting Humberside Police to the dental discovery. The 28-dentures are not a large set so Keith suspects they belong to a small person.
He was concerned they were dropped by a burglar checking out their property while they were away.
Keith, a podiatrist at Diana, Princess Of Wales Hospital, Grimsby said neighbours in Waldorf Road would probably have spotted anyone acting suspiciously in the area. Keith said: "The teeth are an expensive item and could be worth about £200, so it would be good to get them returned to whoever is missing them."
