Hundreds apply for 30 jobs at Healing Manor

MORE than 200 people applied for just 30 positions at Healing Manor Hotel.

They turned out for open interviews at the landmark, which is being transformed into a hotel, bar. restaurant and spa, having been empty for nearly three years.

A trio of local business figures took over the building, which had fallen into disrepair and been targeted by metal thieves.

Joint owners Mark Brennan and Gill Wallace-Armstrong say they've been "blown away" by the response to interviews.

Mark said: "I can't believe how many people have applied and want to work here.

"I realise jobs are limited at the moment, but this response is incredible and gives us so much confidence for the future.

"We are already booked for seven weddings and have one day over the Christmas period fully booked.

"We are fully-booked on our staff training days and the interest in the building is fantastic.

"This is just phase one of the project. The next phase will be to renovate more rooms, create a spa and much more, creating more jobs.

"We will just add and add to the services we offer as the next stages are finished.

"The hotel is not just for travellers or events. We will be open to the public and local community with our bar, cafe and restaurant.

"We welcome the locals to use us as their local bar, to have a sandwich or full meals.

"We are here to serve locals as well as visitors.

Gill said: "We are absolutely amazed. We advertised in the Grimsby Telegraph and on Facebook we would be holding open interviews and had hundreds of people interested in just a few days.

"It's a lovely project to be involved with. It's so exciting to see the interest from the public.

"I hope it will be a great asset to the village and to the area."

Administrator for the Manor Danielle Bizby said: "There are just 30 positions available and I think it's safe to assume all will be filled.

"We have seen more than 200 people throughout the day travelling from as far as Scunthorpe to apply.

"We have had a great response and are really excited about the future."

Healing Manor Hotel is set to open to the public from August 28 and 29 for staff training days, with the official opening on August 30.
