EMERGENCY services are at the scene of multiple crashes on the M180. The incidents are on the eastbound carriageway near the Castlethorpe Bridge area near Brigg. Both sides of the M180, however, are closed between junctions four and five. A statement from Humberside Police said: "Police have closed the M180 at junction four and junction five in BOTH directions due to a number of collisions which have taken place. Officers were called at 1515hrs in connection with an Alfa Romeo, travelling towards Grimsby, losing the caravan it was towing. "The caravan is believed to have then rolled onto its side, causing long tail backs. Nobody was injured in this incident. "Shortly after 1530hrs police were notified of another collision, which had taken place in the tailbacks on the M180. "This involved an HGV and an HGV petrol tanker. One person has been taken to Hull Royal Infirmary, the extent of their injuries are not known at this time. "In another incident, in the tailbacks, a silver coloured Fiat Punto has been involved in a collision with a blue coloured Mercedes. "A woman, travelling in the Punto, has been taken to hospital with head injuries. The person travelling in the Mercedes has not been injured. "In a further incident two other HGVs, again situated in the tailbacks, have been involved in a collision. A person sustained minor injuries. "The road closures are expected to be in place for several hours and motorists are asked to please avoid the area at this time. "A number of emergency vehicles including Ambulance, Fire Service and Air Ambulance are at the scene. "The police helicopter is also assisting with the incident. "This is the latest update and the extent of those people who have been injured is not clear at this time."
