TWO more cats have died after apparently being poisoned by antifreeze.
Lisa Thompson, of Carson Avenue, in Grimsby, was distraught when her two beloved kittens, Will.i.am and Top Cat, died last weekend of renal failure – one of the known effects of when an animal digests antifreeze.
She contacted the Grimsby Telegraph after reading about Vanessa Cowdroy's cat, Oliver, which was put down after almost a week of suffering the same condition.
Lisa lives in the street next to Vanessa, who is convinced the cause of Oliver's death is poisioning.
As reported, concerned animal lovers have been featured in the Grimsby Telegraph over several months, warning that people putting down the substance to deter cats could be fatal.
Lisa, 42, said: "My 11-year-old daughter is heartbroken.
"If someone is putting down antifreeze as a deterrant, they really can't know how much damage it can cause to animals, and their owners, too.
"The kittens stopped eating and were walking like they were drunk, so I knew something was wrong.
"I took them both to the vets and Topcat was put to sleep straight away.
"The vet tried her best to save Will.i.am but he was put down on Monday.
"It's heartless of someone to keep doing this. I have contacted the RSPCA to see if they can do anything about it.
"I saw the article in the Telegraph and knew the exact same thing had happened to my cats.
"These animals were beautiful and never caused any harm to anybody."
Lisa has two other cats and another kitten, called Flash, and she now fears for their safety.
"I am scared to let my other cats out of the house now," she said.
