GRIMSBY Town 3rds maintained their unbeaten start to the North Lindsey League campaign by defeating Caistor Cougars at Augusta Street.
Opener Ross Carnelley was dropped in the third over, but made full use of that chance to record a wonderful century.
The youngster was well supported by Steve Butterfield (60), who struck a fluent half-century as Grimsby posted 213 from their 40 overs.
Gareth Johnson, pictured right, (six for 26) was the Cougars' best performer with the ball.
And the visitors set off well in reply – openers Harry Boulton (52) and Johnson (34) put on a century stand for the first wicket in only 19 overs.
But when both men fell in quick succession, the Cougars charge fell away and eventually closed on 179 for nine.
Tom Thompson, who dismissed dangerman Boulton with a slower ball, finished with two wickets and performed well in tandem with captain Steve Crossley, who took four for 46 with his off-spin
At one stage it looked as though Caistor might force their way back into the contest, but Nathan Davis (16) and Ben Tuckey (19 not out) were unable to capitalise on fine starts.
Bailey Mawer also bowled well in a flawless home performance.
Grimsby remain top of the Division One table after four wins from four, three points clear of second-placed Broughton.
