"IF Grimsby fancy a friendly – we'll give them a game!"
Barry Fry says he would be happy to see his Peterborough United side tee up a pre-season fixture against the Mariners in the coming weeks.
The Posh's director of football is currently working around the clock with manager Darren Ferguson to complete preparations for the coming season.
And he says he'd happily bring the League One outfit to Blundell Park – if a friendly can be arranged.
He said: "We've got a good connection with Grimsby – especially after the Ryan Bennett deal with them in the past.
"I know John (Fenty) and everyone connected with Grimsby pretty well – they were desperately unlucky last season not to get back into the League.
"Our gaffer is away on holiday in Spain, but someone from Grimsby rang us up the other day asking about a friendly.
"It's definitely something that we'd be interested in.
"We'd like to come and play there and we know they'd look after us well.
"I'll get in touch with Grimsby and see if they fancy a game."
