A PROLIFIC offender has been jailed for three years after taking advantage of a police scheme to wipe the slate clean.
Nicholas Kesson, pictured, 34, of Columbus Way, Grimsby was arrested by police and charged with a burglary in Great Coates Road, Grimsby last month, in which jewellery, a jewellery box, a watch, an iPod docking station and a phone charger were stolen.
Kesson had three further burglaries, one in Weelsby Road on April 26, another in Weelsby Road on April 28 and a further offence on Wednesday, May 1 in Abbey Park Road taken into consideration as part of Operation Cleanslate.
The scheme encourages offenders who are in custody to admit to other offences they have committed, giving them the chance to leave prison and make a fresh start with a clean slate.
A Humberside Police spokeswoman said: "The arrest and sentence of Nicholas Kesson is a significant one for North East Lincolnshire. He is a prolific offender and his prominent arrest and charge will have a positive impact on the local community as it is one less offender in the area."
She added: "Whilst police will continue to bring offenders to justice it is important that people do all they can to help themselves not becoming a victim of crime.
