CAISTOR has a new mayor.

Councillor Steve Millson has taken over the role from Councillor John Burns-Salmond, who handed over the chains of office at the council's last meeting.

As reported, Councillor Millson, who lives on The Meadows, stood for the post unopposed.

A management consultant for the seafood industry, Councillor Millson and his wife Carol moved to the Caistor area seven years ago from their previous home in Walesby.

The couple have two grown-up sons.

Speaking as he officially accepted his new office, he said he was looking forward to his time as the town's mayor.

He said: "Caistor has been transformed so much in the last ten years and much of that is down to the hard work of volunteers.

"In the council we now have a full-time clerk and that will help us develop further in such areas as tourism."

It was also announced that the town's deputy mayor will be Councillor Carol Mackenzie.
