SIR Alex Ferguson will retire at the end of the season after 26 years in charge of Manchester United.
The 71-year-old guided the Red Devils to their 20th league title this campaign, but will 'move upstairs' to become a club director and ambassador.
He said: "The decision to retire is one that I have thought a great deal about and one that I have not taken lightly. It is the right time."
