A GRIMSBY-BORN Coronation Street star travelled back from the cobbles to open a new-look bank in Immingham.
Scores of Corrie fans turned out to see actress Lisa George – who plays motor-mouth knicker stitcher Beth Tinker – open Kennedy Way's new Lloyds TSB bank.
Between filming, Lisa, who joined the soap in 2011, opened the bank after an old school pal who works for Lloyds asked her on Facebook.
Lisa said: "When I was driving in last night, going past Great Coates where my sister got married and seeing where I grew up, I got all giddy. It was really nice to get home."
She plays Beth, the onscreen girlfriend of blundering Kirk Sutherland.
Their double-act brings comedy gold to the street, a light relief from the more serious storylines.
But Beth remained tight-lipped over whether wedding bells will ring for the loved-up duo.
She continued: "I don't get massive storylines but they keep ticking over. They are a good antithesis to the more serious storylines. I love bringing that comedy to the show.
"We have a long-term storyline consultation happening at the moment so hopefully I will find out what Beth will be doing next, but at the minute I don't know anything."
The new-look Lloyds follows the closure of the original bank, which will be demolished to make way for a new Tesco precinct, as part of Immingham's £10 million regeneration.
Customers got to meet Lisa while doing their normal banking.
Hazel Lammin, of Immingham, was presented with a box of chocolates for being the first customer.
She said: "I watch the soap all the time. Beth is a brilliant character. It is nice to see Lisa hasn't forgotten where she comes from."
Lisa presented resident Annie Lyness, 24, with flowers, who was also one of the first customers to use the bank.
She said: "I watch Coronation Street when the kids let me. Lisa plays a great part. I didn't expect to meet her, I just came to pay my water!"
Lloyds Bank local director Peter Worley is a huge fan.
He said: "We are delighted to open our new branch. This will further improve customer service in Immingham.
"It has been a pleasure to meet Lisa. She is a lovely, down to earth girl."
